Pacific Leaders Scholarships for Public Servants

Research shows that top employers attract workers through competitive benefits packages. This scholarship helps talented and motivated BC public servants advance their career goals by furthering their education in areas related to government’s priorities.

If you are a high performing, regular employee working towards a certificate, diploma or degree, you may be eligible for a Scholarship.

  • Scholarships will be awarded for reimbursement of tuition and books to a maximum of $5,000 per year for certificate, diploma and undergraduate degree programs and $7,500 for master’s or PhD programs to be used for tuition and books in areas that align with government's current and future skill needs.
  • An up-to-date MyPerformance Profile (performance evaluation) that describes your career goals must be in place.
  • Your career goals are determined by a supervisor to be consistent with the current or future needs of government.
  • Your current performance assessment rating as determined in conversation with your supervisor must be "achieves" or "exceeds expectations".
  • A scholarship covers one 12 month period and employees must re-apply for scholarships for subsequent years of study.
  • For every 12 month period that scholarship funding is provided, a one-year return of service commitment is required plus an additional year upon completion of the entire academic program.
  • Scholarship funding is provided and administered by the employee’s ministry/organization.
  • Approval is provided by the Head of the Public Service Agency acting on behalf of the Deputy Ministers' Committee on the Public Service.
  • Approximately six to eight weeks after the intake deadline, if you have been approved, you will receive confirmation of your success via email, followed by formal letter of notification, sent from the Office of the Premier.
