Pacific Leaders Scholarship - Public Servants' Children

As the province’s largest employer, the B.C. Public Service faces emerging labour market pressures that will continue for several decades. These challenges are faced by virtually every employer in North America. Internal research shows that 75 per cent of current employees were introduced to a career in the B.C. Public Service by a family member. Any qualified student with a parent who has been in the B.C. Public Service for three years is welcome to apply.

  • Up to 60 scholarships of $2,500 each will be offered every year to full-time students who are taking a bachelor’s degree program or trade, technical or vocational training at a public or private post-secondary institution in B.C. designated by the Province. (For a list, go to www.StudentAidBC.ca and type “designated” in the search engine.)
  • Students must be under 25 years old as of April 30 in the year they apply and can receive only one Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Children of Public Servants during their lifetime.
  • Applicants must have a parent who is working full time or part time as a regular employee of the B.C. Public Service, and who has been a member of the B.C. Public Service for at least three years.
  • Scholarship winners will be chosen by an internal selection committee of the provincial government.
  • Applications will be judged based on:
    • Solid academic achievement (B or better).
    • An essay by the student about the value of the public service.
    • Communication skills.

Application deadlines for September studies is April 30 of the current year.
Scholarship winners will be notified in June.
